Suppose 100 individuals were surveyed and each of them was asked for their preference of dishes A, B, C %26amp; D from a scale of 1 to 5. I want to compare if there is significant difference between the means of the dishes.

A Chi - squared test.
The table would have in the columns the responses options, 1 through 5. the rows would be for the dishes.

the table would be field in with the number of responses for each responses.
The chi squared test uses the null hypothesis that the rows are all independent and identically distributed multinomial trials. The alternate hypothesis is that at least one of the rows does not follow the same distribution as the others.
