Do I need to discuss sample size and response rate in a research paper based on a convenience sample survey?

I was wondering if anyone had any good links or books to recommend. I am writing up the results of a web-based convenience sample survey and am getting differing advice about whether or not response rate and sample size can/should be discussed. THANKS!

The best person to talk to is your faculty advisor. But it is standard practice when you are using survey based research to disclose the sample size and the response rate, because it does influence the reader's perception of the outcome.

For example, if your sample is 8 people who responded out of 400 who were approached, your findings wouldn't carry much weight. If your sample was 98 responses out of 100 queries, it would be much more influential.
