a) A car manufacter wants to find out if Canadian familes with young children a minifan to a SUV as the family car.
b) A district school board wants to know how many students who are in grade 10 math achiv scores over 90%

Same survey or census..which 1?
Remember a survey only asks a part of the population (sample) and makes much more sense when the population is very large. A census includes EVERY member of a population.
a. survey would be more appropriate as the population under study is very large (thousands of families)
b. census as data for all 10th grade students is easily obtained and the population size is relatively small ( a few hundred at most)
